In the chapter "Of Turin Turambar" of ''The Silmarillion'' it is said of the fact that Queen Melian gives ''lembas'' bread to Beleg Strongbow: "In nothing did Melian show greater favour to Túrin than in this gift; for the Eldar had never before
allowed Men to use this waybread, and seldom did so again".

However, the article on this site states that Beleg is a Sindarin Elf.

Is he a Man or an Elf?

== Noldo vs Sinda ==
Beleg is not a Sinda but he is a Noldo. The only relevant text I could find anything concerning this is when Gwindor meets first Beleg: "Now falling into talk Flinding was overjoyed to have speech with a free Noldo..." :I searched a bit through The Children of Húrin now and couldn't find any reference to his origin. It is mentioned that he was freely hunting ''near'' Doriath around the time he meets Túrin and Thingol "thanks" him for defending Doriath, but that doesn't mean much. :: Whatever ''canon'' might be... But Beleg isn't given as Sinda anywhere - not in Silmarillion, not in ''newer'' sources: nowhere, at all!
