- 1981 - The thirteenth episode of the 1981 radio adaptation of The Lord of the Rings is aired on BBC Radio 4.
- 2018 - The Hobbit Facsimile Gift Edition is published in the UK.
- 2025 - After 12 years in the role, Shaun Gunner steps down as Chair of The Tolkien Society to become its first Chief Executive Officer. He is succeeded as Acting Chair by Daniel Helen.[1]
