Odovacar Bolger (S.R. 1336—S.R. 1431) was a hobbit of the Shire.
History
Odovacar was the son of Herugar Bolger and Jessamine Boffin. He became head of the family after his father's death. Odovacar married Rosamunda Took, and had two children: Fredegar and Estella. They were all present at Bilbo's Farewell Party.[1]
Etymology
Odovacar contains aud "wealth" and vacar "watchful".[2] It was the name of a legendary germanic king of Rome.
Portrayal in adaptations
2007: The Lord of the Rings Online:
- Odovacar Bolger is a pig farmer living in Budgeford. He asks the player to investigate the rumour of a Black Rider seen at his farm at night, but it turns out to be simply another hobbit playing pranks.
