Second breakfast was a meal taken by Bilbo Baggins in Bag End on the morning he set off on the Quest of Erebor.[1] It was possibly one of the six meals a day eaten by Shire-hobbits.[2]

2001: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring:
- As Strider leads the Travellers to Rivendell, the Hobbits begin to unpack their cooking supplies. Strider tells them that they won't stop until night. Pippin asks when they will take breakfast and Strider reminds him that they've already eaten it. Pippin replies "Well, we've had one, yes. What about second breakfast?". Strider turns around and continues walking. Merry says "Don't think he knows about second breakfast, Pip".
