Year of the Trees 1050 (abbreviated to Y.T. 1050) is the 1050th year of the Trees in the First Age of Arda. Year of the Trees 1050 was also V.Y. 4550 in Valian Years.
Notable events in this year include:
- Varda finishes forming constellations with the Valacirca. She hangs this in the north as a threat to Melkor.[1][2]
- The Elves awake in Cuiviénen, and the first thing seen by them are the stars.[1][2][3] They shout ele! ("behold!"), the first word the first Elves ever spoke.[4] The Firstborn are numbering 144 in total and led by three Elf-fathers: Imin lord of the Minyar, Tata lord of the Tatyar, and Enel lord of the Nelyar.[5]
- Melian ascends Taniquetil to see the stars, but she then desires to see Middle-earth and leaves Valinor for Beleriand.[1][6]
- The First Age begins.[7][8][9][10]
