Summary
J.R.R. Tolkien hand-drew an unintentionally sinister[1] sketch of the Bumpus on the first manuscript of the poem in early 1928.[2]
This sketch was published posthumously as the fifth manuscript in the Illustrations section placed as the end of Volume III of The Collected Poems of J.R.R. Tolkien.
