Question about map features

Hi. Is there a source that you used for rivers and mountains in the East and South? Smeagol (talk) 09:55, 21 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

If you click on the page for the file, you can see a note below the map that the map is based on Karen Wynn Fonstad's work. If you click on the page for Karen Wynn Fonstad, you can see that she is the author of The Atlas of Middle-earth. She provides sources in her atlas. The river flowing into the Belegaer Ozean from the southeast near Umbar is definitely non-canon in the Third Age, because it is not on Christopher Tolkien's General Map of Middle-earth, which includes Umbar and parts of Harad. --Akhorahil (talk) 12:26, 21 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Are there any maps from J.R.R. or Christopher Tolkien of Rhûn and Harad? I know Karen Wynn Fonstad made up a lot of map features herself.
There is a river of Umbar on the earliest map, but it was removed on later maps while the Harnen was expanded. see Tolkienist. Smeagol (talk) 08:21, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
