A Fourteenth-Century Romance is the title of an essay written by J.R.R. Tolkien and published in the magazine Radio Times on December 4, 1953. The article consists of the foreword to Tolkien's translation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, which was broadcast on the BBC Third Programme in 1953.[1]

It was reprinted, in a slightly reduced form, as part II of the Introduction to Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Pearl, and Sir Orfeo.
