First Age 494 (abbreviated to F.A. 494) is the 494th year of the Sun of the First Age of Middle-earth.
Notable events in this year include:
- Morgoth stirs up the Easterlings to greater hatred of Elves and Edain, sending Orcs to aid and impel them. Hearing of Nienor's beauty, Lorgan is eager to take her by force.[1]
- Morwen and Nienor flee to Doriath and seek news of Túrin.[1] There is no news of Túrin in Doriath, but Thingol allows Morwen and Nienor to stay in Doriath as his guests.[2]
