Gene Wolfe

Gene Wolfe (born May 7, 1931, died April 14, 2019) was an American author who primarily wrote fantasy fiction.

Wolfe corresponded with J.R.R. Tolkien in the 1960s (see Letter 290a).^[1] Tolkien appears to have read his short story, 'Trip, Trap', noting in Letter 297 that the word 'warg' (on whose etymology Wolfe had consulted him) appeared in Orbit 2, p. 119, in a story by 'a reader of the L.R.'
