Jäänainen was an evil Maia invented by Iron Crown Enterprises for Middle-earth Role Playing. In the First Age, she was allied with Morgoth, and she fled far north after the War of Wrath. Biding her time, she performed smaller evils, igniting feuds or luring men to their death by assuming the form of a beautiful woman. In the Third Age, she dwelt near the Bay of Cracking Ice.[1][2]
While her petty evils pleased the Witch-king, like many of the evil spirits of the Northern Waste, she was not in any way subservient to him or Sauron.[3] Elves were immune to her charms, but Men and Dwarves were vulnerable.[4]
