James Tauber is a Tolkien scholar, linguist, teacher, and software developer at Signum University, holding a Master of Arts from Lancaster University, where his thesis was on linguistic variation in Tolkien.[1] He is the founder and chief of the Digital Tolkien Project, specializing in text markup and computer-aided literary and linguistic analysis. He is a scholar of Tolkien's invented languages, with a book chapter in Reading Fictional Languages on the use of these languages in the text of The Lord of the Rings[2] as well as an expert in Tolkien's writing style.

James co-hosts The Rings of Power Wrap-up podcast with Sara Brown and Alan Sisto, and has been a guest host on The Prancing Pony Podcast.
