John Benjamin Tolkien (June 1752 – 27 January 1819) was George Tolkien's father, and J.R.R. Tolkien's great-great-grandfather. He was born in Gdańsk (Danzig) in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and emigrated to England after 1770. His wife and George's mother was Mary Wall (1746 – 16 March 1837).[1]
John Benjamin Tolkien and his wife Mary are buried at Bunhill Fields in London, in the same grave as the composer William Shrubsole.
