Sometime between late 1955 and early 1956, J.R.R. Tolkien wrote a letter to G.E. Selby.[1]

  • Subject: Tolkien writes about the publication of The Lord of the Rings, which he says is not a trilogy and not an allegory. He also "comments on reviews, Frodo's failure, the Elvish languages, and the poem Errantry".[1]
