The crucial quote about the Jews, transcribed here as partly an interruption by the interviewer, is no such thing. Listening to the original recording of the 1964 interview, there is no question that Tolkien himself states the entire quote (watch from 10:30-10:50), and his further comments about the Jews' "immense warlike capacity and immense love of the artifact" is excised. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzDtmMXJ1B4 This is blatant false scholarship, designed to make Tolkien look better. Hi! Thanks for pointing that out. I don't see why such ommission would make Tolkien look better, I'd consider if it is just a mistake of the original transcriber.
