Hello! I am Edrastel, a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien's works since around 2009. I am one of the newer contributors to Tolkien Gateway, having joined on 20 December, 2015.

History

I was introduced to The Lord of the Rings through Peter Jackson's extended film trilogy. After watching all three films, I quickly wanted to read the stories on paper for myself. I started, of course, with The Hobbit before moving on to The Lord of the Rings itself, and after coming to the end of The Return of the King I was left wanting more. I went on to The Silmarillion, and afterwards to The Children of Húrin, and from there my collection of Middle-earth lore started piling up.

Some time around the year 2010, I began to play the online MMO The Lord of the Rings Online. From the very start I played as a roleplayer, though an amateur at first, on the server Crickhollow. Eventually I went on a long hiatus before returning to the game in 2014 on another server with a new account, this time in the server Laurelin.
