Tolkien Quest (TQ) was a series of solo adventure paperback books based on the QuestGame System, published by Iron Crown Enterprises.
After the release of the second book of the series, Allen & Unwin claimed ICE and Tolkien Enterprises had violated their contract. All books had to be recalled and destroyed, with the loss being estimated between 2.25 and 2.5 million dollars. ICE was able to negotiate a gamebook license with Allen & Unwin in 1986, which resulted in the Middle-earth Quest series.[1]
Publications
Two sequel books were planned to be published in January and February of 1986: Rescue in Mirkwood (which was later published as part of the Middle-earth Quest series) and Murder at Minas Tirith which was never published.
