Magic: The Gathering | The Hobbit is an expansion for the Magic: The Gathering collectible card game, set to be released August 2026 under the Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond sub-brand. It was announced at MagicCon Atlanta 2025 and will be the second Lord of the Rings themed expansion for the card game, the first being The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth, initially released on June 20, 2023.

In May 2026, an illustration of the One Ring created by Dan Frazier was found to have been plagiarized from an earlier illustration by Marta Nael, which was later confirmed by both the artist and Wizards of the Coast.[1][2]

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 Frazier's artwork on The One Ring card was copied from Marta Nael's The One Ring card for The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth. This was caught too late to stop printing but all digital versions will credit both Frazier and Nael, and Nael will receive compensation.
